“I’ve always envied people who sleep easily. Their brains must be cleaner, the floorboards of the skull well swept, all the little monsters closed up in a steamer trunk at the foot of the bed.” — David Benioff, City of Thieves

One of the first products I tried was the Essence of Vali Sleep Essential Oils. The vial that came in my box retails for $1 on their website and a full-size bottle goes for $18. They made the oils using lavender flowers, marjoram leaves, cedarwood, and ylang/ylang petals. The fragrance of this mix smells heavenly.
So the directions tell you to either dip two corners of your (clean) pillowcase or soak a tissue or cloth and put it inside the pillowcase. And the scent is to relax you into sleep.
I was highly skeptical. I normally don’t sleep without the help of medication. I have insomnia, and to keep me from becoming addicted to sleeping pills I will do a month detox in between bottles. So, I’m on my detox phase and I have taken nothing in weeks. With that being said, it overcame me with a heaviness like 30 mins after I had applied it to my pillow.
And to be honest, I kept sniffing my pillow; the smell was that good. So that may or may not have affected how I reacted to it… either way, I slept really well that night. I have used it two nights in a row and I still have plenty left in my vial. I applied too much one night and had a raging migraine. The smell is very strong, so it doesn’t take much and it will probably work better with a diffuser.
