This Is Not The Way To Get Justice

I am all for a peaceful protest. I am all for having a voice, and we (people of color) finally reaching the point of equality. I am all for the fight against racism, homophobia, and police brutality. I am all for fighting for what’s right, getting a president in office that cares more about the people versus the power, arresting all the dirty cops who have killed innocent unarmed black people, and I am for the Black Lives Matter Movement. I agree that until Black Lives Matter, All Lives Matter is a lie.

I am for all of the above, but I am not for the riots. I am not for the looting. I am not for burning buildings and destroying cities to get my point across. I am not for that, and the violent and criminal acts will not get your voice heard.

You are destroying cities, homes, and businesses for what reason. What will that prove other than proving them right in their assumptions about us? So what if they have insurance, that’s not enough for all that they have lost. Years of building a brand and time spent are now gone overnight because people are using this cause as an excuse to commit criminal acts and not be charged for it. Protest yes, but don’t destroy the city in the process, especially if you are not from that city.

And let’s not forget Covid-19 is still out there and it is real.

If you want to see a change in the world, then go out and vote. D.C., Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Montana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and South Dakota are holding primary elections. Please go out and vote. Protesting can only get you so far, but you still must vote and get the right ones in the office.

I pray justice comes to those who lost a son or a daughter at the hands of a corrupted cop. I pray we find peace soon as a nation. I pray that the things that once divided us bring us together. I pray for us all.
