Now Before Dark is the third installment in the Terrible Serious Darkness series. Peril in the Old Country and Soul Remains are the first two books of the series. It’s a great series, if I do say so myself.
The main character is Slooth, Slooth Peril. He is a former accountant turned demon, and just any demon. He is a demon of the 100th class, cool, right? He’s a worrier, timid, and can be a coward at times. He’s faced with conquering his fears and issues in book three.
The tasks at hand are some of the most terrifying and probably the most difficult things he has faced in his life ( and afterlife), which may or may not include saving his girlfriend (and that’s still up in the air) from Hell. But with the help of a few friends, a philosopher, a bard, and a wizard, he may be successful in succeeding.
Hooker takes us on an exciting journey following Sloot and his misadventures. It was fun seeing his character change and grow a little in each book. It’s a dark comedy at it’s finest.
